gig posters

when a studio gets a gig poster right, they really get it right. there is not really a middle ground when it comes to designing for music, whether it’s album covers or concert posters, either you get it or you don’t. vahalla studios definitely falls into the former category; they hit these out of the park! all available from poster cabaret.

style.play.work.shop. edition no. 2

welcome to edition no. 2 of style.play.work.shop. if you missed edition no. 1 see my post. we had seven people submit photos to the group this time!

my favorite is from lanalou style, and it definitely fits in my style of clean, light and fresh. take a peek at the flickr group for all the submissions and get ready for next month cause we are doing it again! oh and don’t forget to check out the compai blog for justina’s picks!

any participating bloggers can post your favorites on your own blogs. you can download the illustrations and logo from the flickr group. just be sure to link back here or to www.compaiblog.com.

just fyi, anyone can join, all we need is for you to sign up here. this is for beginning to pro stylists and photographers, even if you’ve never styled a photograph before this is the perfect way to get some practice with a few constraints {and a deadline}! don’t worry if you feel you don’t have great photo skills or an expensive camera, anything will do, just try it!

if you want to join in edition no. 3 here is what you need to know:

deadline: tuesday december 7
holiday objects: wrapped gift, a cookie, a calendar and something spherical (your choice) & remember you can use more than just those items so get creative with accessories if you want!

everyone did a great job on this edition, i can’t wait to see what you come up with next!

you had me at gilded...

do you ever see something and just know it was made for you? i almost choked on my coffee when i saw these beauties yesterday morning. i had no idea that toms could outdo my gold glitter shoes, but they did. if you have been living under a rock then you need to know that if you buy a pair of toms, a child in need gets a pair too. so, really my self-imposed no shopping till after the holidays doesn’t apply to these, because i’m doing this for the kids!

paris versus new york

oh my! parisian designer vahram muratyan has captured the differences between paris and new york beautifully on his blog. which would you choose? my gut would say new york, but after looking through his comparisons my choice might just be paris!

honeycomb tiles

the texture of these honeycomb inspired tiles by tokujin yoshioka makes my head spin. my dream home has an entire stark wall covered in these, i would stare at them when my brain gets too full.

la weekend

i had entirely too much fun in LA this weekend! I had the chance to meet peggy from blue pool road and justina from compai creative, two creative masterminds I formerly only knew via twitter.

i drove around a ton to soak in as much tourist stuff as possible, including a walk down hollywood boulevard to visit with my favorite stars. i also ran a great half marathon and beat my old time! afterwards i went to intelligentsia in venice and had a celebrity sighting & a great cappucino.

what did you do?
