style.play.work.shop. contest!

Join in this month’s Style.Play.Work.Shop with a fun contest sponsored by Anthology magazine. We have three guest judges who will be choosing their top picks this month: Erin Loechner from Design for Mankind, Bonnie Tsang of Bonnie Tsang Photography and Joy Cho from Oh Joy! Meg from Anthology has graciously donated a subscription to the magazine as a prize, and we are working on a few more prizes. Justina and I will be doing our photoshoots as usual, but are not eligible to win the contest.

We chose Anthology for it’s amazing photographs & styling, if you haven’t already, check out Anthology magazine for some stylish inspiration.

coffee unplugged

In one of my favorite posts ever on sfgirlbybay, Victoria rounded up quite a collection of coffee photographs. As a coffee fanatic I love seeing how other people take their coffee and what kind of brewing techniques they use.

A few months ago I gave up using my trusty Mr. Coffee in exchange for a french press, and have not looked back. Since then, I’ve also been exploring other coffee brewing methods that don’t require an outlet. Here’s a quick roundup of six things on my coffee making wishlist.

Note: if I ever get all of these items I will have to move to a bigger house to make room for a coffee bar!

a home office

i’m totally obsessed with the office / studio spaces of other designers and artists and i’m pretty sure i’m not the only one who likes to get a glimpse. seeing where people create is like peeking into people’s minds. so, i thought i’d share a few images of my home office, which is currently in the dining room. it’s difficult to get good light for taking photographs of the space, so they turned out a bit grainy, but you can get the gist.

a new facade

dreaming of working / living in the open spaces of this metier house in rotterdam. the house was split into multiple apartments at one time and has been opened back up into a single family home complete with a kitchen, studio space, garden and courtyard. i am especially loving the new windows overlapping old window frames.

style.play.work.shop. edition no. 4

This month’s Style.Play.Work.Shop included a coffee table, something meant to burn, something alive and remnants of a hobby. In addition to Justina’s and my own I choose Alexandra’s from bancroft + ivy. It’s Alexandra’s first time submitting, so a warm welcome to her!

We haven’t announced the details for next month’s theme, but we have a special surprise in store, so get your cameras ready! If you haven’t yet signed up, fill out this form to get an invite to the flickr group.

my childhood bedroom was...

I’m very excited to be taking part in Blog for Digs benefitting Dwell with Dignity. Dwell with Dignity brings design into the homes of those less fortunate. Bloggers were asked to do a post with the theme “my childhood bedroom was…” so here is my interpretation of my childhood bedroom! Be sure to check out more posts on The Parenting Myth and tomorrow one will be on A Design Studio Grows in Brooklyn.

If you donate to Dwell with Dignity, be sure to dedicate your donation to Blogs for Digs!

style.play.work.shop. edition no. 3

I have been having some major issues with my blog, but I found a temporary workaround so I can at least  post this month’s style.play.work.shop photographs.

This month we included a calendar, cookie, wrapped gift & something spherical. We also had eight people participate for December! You can see all of the finished photographs in our flickr group.

Check out Justina’s favorites on the Compai Blog! We haven’t announced next month’s objects & due date yet, but I’ll be sure to keep you updated. Everyone who is participating is totally improving their styling skills, so please join us next time for styling practice!
