thoughts are with japan

My thoughts are with Japan this morning as I watch the devastating news. West Coasters be safe today. If you want to help you can text redcross to 90999 to make a $10 donation. It will be added to your next cell phone bill. Or go to redcross.org to make a donation in any amount.

style file week six

Whew! The style file series is over (for now at least). It was getting quite difficult to wear different outfits everyday and make myself presentable each and every morning. I am one short of 30 photos and I’m okay with skipping that last one (I was on a plane all day Friday).

Check out Monique’s wrap up post and see flickr for the whole set.

the coveteur

I have found a new favorite website just for gawking at cool people’s closets. The Coveteur takes a glimpse into the closets of modern tastemakers. One of my favorite things about it is that they don’t show too much, you can understand their philosophy from the quote in the header, “It’s more interesting to have just a picture of a small detail - then you can dream all the rest around it. Because when you see the whole thing, what is there to imagine?” -Dries Van Noten

portland friends part two

Here we go with part two of introducing my new Portland friends, looks like I’ll have to have one more post on Monday to finish off the intros since I did not get around to them all this week. Oh, and if you missed part one, check it!

First is Chelsea Fuss from {Frolic!}. She is an amazing prop, floral (and wedding) stylist and blogger. Those bouquets above are just one of many projects she did for Project Wedding. This is one multi-talented lady with a fresh aesthetic and unabashed outlook. She is very honest and I would definitely trust her opinion on anything design or photography related.

Next is Lisa Waringer from Urban Weeds. I have been a fan of Urban Weeds for quite a while now, and am super excited to have met the mastermind behind the camera. Did you know Chelsea goes with Lisa to scout for these gems in Portland? Anyway, Lisa is a doll; she knows her way around a camera and has a good eye for fashion. Double win!

These two make quite the team (they team up often from what I gather). They are the duo behind the product photography from Tokketok and some other fun projects at Project Wedding.

portland friends part one

Words cannot even describe how much fun I had in Portland last week. The best part was meeting new friends that I only knew through twitter and blogs. So today I want to tell you about 2 of the lovely ladies I met last week (more intros to come throughout the week).

Joke (pronounced YOKA for those of you wondering) from Tokketok Press is the sweetest. We met for the first time a few weeks ago in Palm Springs at Hitched, and I could not wait to see her again. She introduced me to the doughnuts at Grüner.. amazing! She also runs a letterpress studio with the most beautiful minimalist cards. Oh and she has a killer blog with the best easy gift wrap and craft ideas, seriously Martha Stewart should be knocking on her door.

Sally, I “met” online through mutual friend Bonnie. She is a longtime blogger and amazing mother of two cute boys. I have to congratulate Sally for launching another blog yesterday: Sally J Shim. Both of her blogs, Shim + Sons and Sally J Shim have original ideas and inspiration. She is so thoughtful and full of insight.

More to come later this week on more ladies and a few gents I met in Portlandia.
