films to watch

I don’t make a ton of time to watch movies or tv at home, but occasionally on weekends I watch something on Netflix. Recently I have enjoyed:

Eames the Architect and the Painter
Beasts of the Southern Wild
Jiro Dreams of Sushi
Bill Cunningham New York
The Queen of Versailles

I’ve taken to tracking my done and not done movie watching over at Done Not Done if you want to follow along!

lessons from a dog

Liz Danzico writes lessons she learned from her dog, Lucy, who passed away in November

Learn at least one impressive trick.
Shake when wet.
Wag.
When off the leash, it is best to run to a loved one.
Accept treats from strangers energetically yet cautiously.
Roll in grass whenever possible.
Wonderful things can sometimes be found in the trash.
Barking is a last resort.
Know when the right time is to let go of what you love.
True life partners do exist.

lunch topics / 01

Sometimes we have silly conversations at the lunch table, recently we spent thirty minutes discusssing whether or not a quesadilla qualifies as a sandwich.

Do you consider a quesadilla a sandwich?

Some arguments for a quesadilla being a sandwich:

  • It’s like a grilled cheese sandwich but made with tortillas

Arguments against a quesadilla being a sandwich:

  • Tortillas don’t have yeast, therefore aren’t bread, therefore can’t be used to make a sandwich
  • The tortilla (according to some) is folded in half, so it’s not actually two pieces sandwiching cheese
